In order to do this, sit your baby upright or hold him up against your shoulder, and gently rub his back and tummy until he burps. It is normal to notice that your baby sometimes vomits a small amount of milk when you do this. Also, you can give your baby a dummy to suck on, and then provide tummy or back rubs.
Carry your baby in a front sling or backpack. Then, you can sing softly and talk to your baby, or even hold your baby and walk or dance around him. You can also take your baby for a car ride or a walk in the buggy, push him around in his pram or pushchair, rock him over your shoulder, carry him around the house, or keep the baby moving in a baby swing. Remember, babies need lots of contact and they like movement. You may want to change your baby's position by propping him up.
Surprising as it may seem to be, some babies find white noise soothing. Try to soothe your baby with continuous noise or vibrations from a household appliance like the dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, or washing machine. You can also swaddle or wrap your baby in a blanket, or give him a warm bath to help relieve colic.
